KATHMANDU: Commercial banks in Nepal have revised their fixed deposit interest rates for the month of Falgun, with nine banks lowering rates while eleven have kept them unchanged.
The new rates came into effect from Falgun 1. The average interest rate on individual fixed deposits has decreased by 0.11 percentage points to 4.57 percent. In the previous month (Magh), the average rate for individuals was 4.68 percent.
Similarly, the average interest rate on institutional fixed deposits has declined by 0.05 percentage points to 3.33 percent in Falgun, compared to 3.38 percent in Magh.

The following eleven banks have kept their fixed deposit rates unchanged:
The reduction in interest rates suggests that liquidity in the banking system remains comfortable. With slower loan demand in recent months, banks appear to be adjusting deposit rates to manage costs.
Any further impact on lending rates will depend on each bank’s internal pricing and overall credit demand in the coming months.
