KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Monday unanimously endorsed the name of Dr. Manoj Sharma for appointment as Nepal’s next Chief Justice.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee following the completion of Sharma’s parliamentary hearing.
The committee held the hearing on Monday and subsequently approved his nomination through a unanimous decision, clearing the way for his formal appointment as the country’s top judicial official.
Sharma’s endorsement comes after lawmakers evaluated his qualifications, professional background, judicial experience, and vision for Nepal’s judiciary during the hearing process.
With parliamentary approval secured, the process for his appointment as Chief Justice of Nepal is expected to move forward in accordance with constitutional procedures.
The Chief Justice plays a crucial role in leading the judiciary, overseeing the functioning of courts, ensuring judicial independence, and guiding legal and constitutional interpretation in Nepal.
