Support price of sugarcane proposed Rs 544 per quintal

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) has proposed support price of sugarcane at Rs 544.33 per quintal for the ongoing fiscal year.

The Ministry stated that the support price has been derived analyzing  the production cost, transportation, market price and profit based on the suggestions of the committee formed to review sugarcane price.

“We have proposed to raise support price of cane by Rs 8 per quintal compared to last year’s price,” said Yogendra Kumar Karki, secretary at MoALD, adding that the proposal will be endorsed soon.

Last year, the government had fixed support price of sugarcane at Rs 535.56 per quintal.
