KATHMANDU: Nepali specialty coffee brand Himalayan Java is set to further expand its international presence with the opening of a new outlet in Gurugram, India, as part of its broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in the global coffee market.
The company will begin operations at its new outlet located at Avenue Mall in Sector 65, Gurugram, from this coming Friday. The expansion is expected to strengthen Himalayan Java’s presence in the Indian market while taking its signature Nepali coffee experience to a growing international customer base.
Founded in 1999 by entrepreneurs Gagan Pradhan and Anand Gurung, Himalayan Java began as a homegrown coffee brand in Kathmandu and has since developed into one of Nepal’s best-known specialty coffee chains.
The brand played a pioneering role in shaping Nepal’s modern café and specialty coffee culture. From its early beginnings in Kathmandu, Himalayan Java has expanded its network to nearly 100 locations across domestic and international markets.
Its international footprint has extended beyond Nepal, with outlets and franchise operations reaching destinations including Toronto and Lhasa, among other markets. The company’s expansion reflects the growing global interest in specialty coffee and Nepal’s emerging identity as a source of premium coffee products and experiences.
Himalayan Java has sought to combine Nepal’s unique Himalayan identity and coffee culture with contemporary café design and international service standards. The brand has positioned itself not only as a coffee retailer but also as an ambassador for Nepal’s specialty coffee culture in overseas markets.
The new Gurugram outlet is expected to provide customers with Himalayan Java’s range of specialty coffee and café offerings while introducing the brand to consumers in one of India’s rapidly developing commercial and lifestyle destinations.
India has emerged as an important market for Nepali businesses seeking international expansion due to its large consumer base, geographical proximity and growing demand for premium food and beverage experiences.
The opening of the Gurugram outlet is therefore expected to mark another step in Himalayan Java’s international growth journey. The company’s continued expansion also highlights the increasing potential of Nepali brands to build international franchises by combining local identity with globally competitive products and services.
