KATHMANDU — In a strategic move aimed at consolidating its rapidly expanding hospitality business, CG Holdings has officially brought all its hotels and resorts under a unified umbrella brand, CG Hotels & Resorts, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s premium tourism and hospitality sector.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a formal event held at The Plaza in Lalitpur, where CG Holdings Managing Director Suryansh Chaudhary revealed the company’s plan to streamline operations, branding, and guest experiences across its hospitality properties under a single institutional framework.
According to Chaudhary, the new umbrella structure currently incorporates several premium hospitality assets, including the upcoming five-star Crowne Plaza Kathmandu in Pulchowk, The Plaza, Tigerland Safari Resort in Jagatpur, Chitwan, Bhangeri Durbar Resort in Nagarkot, and Meraki Wellness Retreat in Budhanilkantha.
He further stated that all future hotels and resorts launched by CG Holdings will also operate under the CG Hotels & Resorts brand portfolio, signaling the conglomerate’s long-term ambition to become a major hospitality player in Nepal and the broader South Asian tourism market.
One of the flagship projects under the new hospitality umbrella is the much-anticipated Crowne Plaza Kathmandu, located in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, which is expected to begin operations within Nepali year 2083.
The five-star hotel will be managed by the globally renowned InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), marking the international hospitality giant’s return to Nepal nearly six years after ending its management role at Soaltee Hotel.
The return of IHG through a partnership with CG Holdings is viewed as a major development for Nepal’s luxury hospitality industry, particularly as the country seeks to attract high-spending international tourists, business travelers, and global events.
The hotel will feature 175 rooms, multiple dining options including a signature rooftop restaurant, and six event halls. The largest banquet hall will span approximately 5,000 square feet, making it suitable for major conferences, corporate events, weddings, and high-profile gatherings.
Originally inaugurated in Baisakh 2076, the hotel project has now entered its final phase of development and is preparing for commercial operations this year.
Rooms in the property will begin from the fourth floor, while visitors are expected to enjoy expansive panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley.
Among its key attractions is a premium rooftop plaza on the 12th floor, offering a 360-degree view of Kathmandu Valley, positioning it as a potential landmark destination for both tourists and residents.
Designed to reflect modern luxury and international hospitality standards, the Crowne Plaza Kathmandu is expected to elevate Nepal’s premium accommodation segment amid growing tourism recovery.
Another notable property under the CG Hotels & Resorts portfolio is the Bhangeri Durbar Resort in Nagarkot, a luxury retreat inspired by Nepal’s Rana-era architectural heritage.
Construction of the resort began eight years ago and it officially came into operation in Baisakh this year.
The resort derives its identity from the historic Bhangeri Durbar, originally built in Nagarkot by Chandra Shumsher Rana, and has been designed to recreate the grandeur and aesthetic essence of the historic palace.
Featuring 51 luxury rooms, the resort offers modern hospitality amenities aimed at premium domestic and international travelers seeking nature, comfort, and heritage experiences.
Located in one of Nepal’s most popular hill destinations, the resort offers panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range, including Mount Everest, alongside spectacular sunrise experiences.
Guests can also explore surrounding hill settlements in Kavrepalanchok and Sindhupalchok, while nearby trekking destinations such as Dhulikhel, Chisapani, and Changunarayan enhance its appeal as a tourism hub.
CG Hotels & Resorts has also incorporated Tigerland Safari Resort, located in Jagatpur, Chitwan, into its hospitality network.
Managed by international hospitality chain Lemon Tree Hotels, the wildlife-themed resort is situated along the northern boundary of Chitwan National Park, one of Nepal’s most significant tourism destinations.
Spread across six bighas of land, the jungle-inspired property includes 32 private villas, designed to provide guests with immersive wildlife experiences while maintaining premium hospitality standards.
The resort offers a variety of eco-tourism and adventure activities, including jeep safaris, canoeing, jungle walks, village tours, and traditional Tharu cultural performances.
According to the company, Tigerland Safari is also emerging as a preferred destination for corporate retreats, destination weddings, and experiential tourism, with opportunities to observe wildlife directly from private villas.
CG Holdings has also integrated The Plaza, Nepal’s largest multi-venue event facility located in Pulchowk, under the CG Hotels & Resorts brand.
The Plaza features a massive 12,000-square-foot event hall, capable of accommodating over 2,500 guests in theater-style seating, alongside parking capacity for more than 300 vehicles.
The venue is equipped with advanced sound systems, lighting technology, multimedia facilities, and cultural event capabilities, making it suitable for conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale celebrations.
Meanwhile, Meraki Wellness Retreat, located in Budhanilkantha, focuses on wellness-oriented hospitality near Kathmandu.
Positioned as a nature-inspired retreat, the property emphasizes wellness experiences while offering guests the atmosphere of staying amid forest surroundings close to the capital city.
The consolidation of these diverse hospitality assets under CG Hotels & Resorts reflects CG Holdings’ growing ambitions in Nepal’s tourism, luxury accommodation, and destination-based hospitality sectors, at a time when Nepal is increasingly positioning itself as a premium global travel destination.
